What can I expect from Lyminge Pre-School?
As an outstanding pre school in Shepway. Kent , you can expect the school to offer a high quality service and carry out its duties in a highly professional manner at all times. For your child to be cared for by members of staff who have a love of children and for education to take place in a stimulating, challenging and safe environment. You can also expect your child's emotional and physical needs will be catered for in a sensitive and caring manner. Staff are forward thinking and strive to keep up to date through training and gaining qualifications to understand child development at a high level.

When does the Pre-School open?
The Pre-School is open 8am-5pm Monday to Thursday and 8am-3pm on Fridays.

What do I need to bring for my child?
Summer: You need to bring a change of clothes, slippers, sun hat and sun cream.
Winter: Coat, hat, scarf, gloves, wellies and slippers.
All year round: If your child is in nappies then you need to bring spare nappies, wipes and nappy sacks. Please ensure all items of clothing are clearly named.

Do I need to label my entire child's clothing?
You only really need to label outer wear such as coats, hats, scarves, slippers, bags etc.

Am I able to book additional sessions?
Yes you are able to book additional sessions as long as the ratios are ok. We work on a strict staff to child ratio and are limited to in the number of children who can be in attendance at any one time. Lyminge Pre-School will always try to meet your needs and you should speak to a member of staff to see if we have any availability.
If you want to decrease sessions then you will need to give at least half a terms notice notice.

What do I do if my child does not settle?
It is unusual for a child not to settle once a parent has gone. Most children settle very quickly. The excitement of new surroundings and playing with other children usually helps to settle them. Your child will be allocated a key person who will help your child settle. If we have any concerns about your child we will always ring and discuss these concerns with you. Between us we can overcome any difficulties.

What do I do if my child is sick?
If your child is sick and has a contagious illness Lyminge Pre-School is not permitted by our licensing authority to admit your child. If your child is sick during the day you will contacted straight away for you to come and collect them. We have a no return policy for 48 hours after sickness or diarrhoea.

If I'm concerned about my child can I ring the setting?
Yes! We welcome telephone calls from parents at any time. Our number is 01303 863149.

Who can collect my child from Pre-School?
We will accept any nomination from you as long as you let us know in advance. We will not release any child into the care of any person that has not been authorised by you and has the given password.

When and how are fees to be paid?
You will be invoiced by our Business Manager which will appear on Baby's Days every month.

Do I pay fees when my child is not at Lyminge Pre-School?
Yes, fees are payable during term time for the sessions your child is booked in for. If your child is sick or on holiday then fees still need to be paid.

Can I bring food or sweets in to Lyminge Pre-School?
We have a Healthy Eating Policy at Lyminge Pre-School and sweets are not encouraged unless it is a special occasion such as a birthday. As we have children with allergies can you please inform us if you are going to bring sweets/birthday cake in.

What happens if I will be late collecting my child?
In an emergency we will look after your child until collected. It is vital that you contact as soon as possible so we make arrangements. Please see or request the preschool policy on uncollected children.

If my child has an injury will I be told?
Yes, if your child receives an injury, no matter how minor, you will always be told. All injuries are recorded in our Accident Record Book. The nature of the injury will be outlined, what treatment, if any, was carried out and the staff members who dealing with it will sign the Accident Record Book. When you pick your child up you will be asked to sign the book to agree that you are content with how the matter was handled.

Do you have policies and procedures?
Yes we do. There is a file available to view within the parents hub area at the preschool for you to read at any time. We also have our policies on Baby's Days. If you require assistance please see a member of staff.

What does Lyminge do with my personal information?
The information is treated as highly confidential and will only be used to assist the care of your child. It is vital for your child's wellbeing that your emergency contact details are kept accurate and up to date.
Your records are not shown to any other party and when you leave Lyminge Pre-School they will be destroyed after the relevant retention period. All staff have signed a confidentiality contract and adhere to our confidentiality policy.
